The Engineer's Notebook

The Tooltronics Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) Test Socket allows devices to be inserted and removed without applying force, protecting delicate leads from stress and damage. The socket utilizes our HPK-FS Series flat serrated contacts to deliver reliable electrical performance and repeatable test results.

A cam and slide design engages the contacts once the device is in position, securely gripping the leads to provide a stable electrical connection during testing.

Optional device guides ensure proper device orientation during insertion, helping prevent misalignment, bent leads, and contact damage. This design makes the ZIF Test Socket well suited for laboratory, engineering, and production test environments.

Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) Sockets for High-Current Testing

Tooltronics, Inc. Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) Test Sockets are engineered to allow devices to be inserted and removed with zero insertion force, helping prevent damage to sensitive device leads during insertion and extraction. Designed for demanding engineering, validation, and production environments, Tooltronics ZIF sockets provide reliable electrical connections, repeatable device positioning, and long service life.

Tooltronics ZIF sockets utilize HPK-FS (Flat Serrated) Kelvin contacts designed specifically for ZIF applications. The flat serrated contact surface helps provide secure, low-resistance electrical connections while maintaining accurate force-and-sense Kelvin measurements for demanding high-current test applications.
